About the course

This course is an introduction to Sciences of the Quran. This includes a brief survey of the various topics related to the vast subject of the Sciences of the Quran, including defining what the Quran is, its content, names, miracles, causes and types of revelation, kinds of verses, abrogation, transmission and preservation, division, language and style, recitation, modes of recitation, exegesis, and interpretations. This course provides students with a comprehensive picture of the field while also exposing them to some of the important discussions in it.

Learning Outcomes

  • Better understand the Quran, in that the student will be familiar with the history of its revelation and collection, and the various aspects that aids its comprehension

Shaykh Dr. Muhammad bin Yahya al-Ninowy is the Founder and Director of Madina Institute, an Islamic seminary in Atlanta, Georgia, with campuses in South Africa, the United Kingdom, Norway, Sudan, and Malaysia. Dr. Muhammad bin Yahya al-Ninowy is considered to be a Muhaddith; a scholar of Hadith sciences. He has authored books in Usul, Creed, Hadith, and Sufi sciences. He has been a pioneer working on grass root levels to bring back Unconditional compassion and love as the central themes of religion and has been the forerunner promoting non-violence among all people and religions worldwide. Dr. Muhammad bin Yahya al-Ninowy also holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Illinois, and a doctor of medicine degree.
